AOC Bordeaux BLANC

Hints of white peaches, mangoes, pink grapefruits and violets can all be found.
On ageing, jammy fruit or dried fruit notes, such as apricots, figs, and mandarin oranges,
as well as a slight touch of toast coming from the ageing in wood.
Supple, harmonious, aromatic and full of charm on the palate.
Easy to drink. All its flavours stay a long time on the palate.

Since 1854 our exploitation is in the family,
Owned by Patrick Carteyron since 1982.

Surface area of the vineyard :
40 Ha only 2,5 Hectares of white
Grape varieties : Sauvignon Blanc 65%, Sauvignon gris 20%, Sémillon 15%.

Terroir :
The white wines of Château Penin do not come from the gravel soils of the estate. They are from a separate plot situated on a clay hillside with limestone subsoil.

Vine-growing :
De-leafing is carried out around the bunches so as to expose the grapes to as much sunshine as possible and thereby optimise the ripening process.

Vinification :
- The grapes are picked when they are perfectly ripe (when the berries are golden).
- Skin contact maceration.
- Gentle pressing in a pneumatic press.
- First racking and settling of the juices.
- Kept at cold temperature on the fine lees.
- Second racking and settling, filtering of the lees, of which the juices are reintegrated into the free-run juices, according to tasting.
- Fermentation at a constant temperature of 16° C.

Ageing :
- Partly in vat and partly in new barrels.
- The wines are kept 5 months on their fine lees with stirring of the lees inside the vat and batonnage in barrel.

Production : 18 000 bottles.

When to drink :
Easy-drinking and attractive in its youth, do not hesitate though, to lay this wine down a new years. All its charms and richness will then come through.
