WHERE WE COME FROM

Sixth generation, we were not the first in the family to come up with the idea of making wine. While others were inventing a classification, we were founding our family estate. In 1855, Louis and Jacques Carteyron laid the first stones of what would become Château Penin. Over the generations, the estate has gradually expanded to reach 40 hectares.

WHO WE ARE

.

A childhood spent among the vines, followed by a first career far from them. At 35, we went back to school to put theory behind gestures we had performed thousands of times as children. A return to the land.’

Antoine – A first career in consulting, followed by a role in the management of a startup. Vinifications at Château Smith Haut Lafitte to understand the level of excellence required by the Grands Crus. A period at Domaine de Terrebrune, from which he brought back a vision of balance, both in the vineyard and in the wines.

He enjoys: elegant, distinctive red wines; balanced whites; old Armagnacs; spending Sundays in the kitchen; traveling (with a slight taste for adventure—from the foothills of the Himalaya to the mountains of Georgia); and taking time with his son.

Etienne – A first career in start-ups, followed by an executive role within the La Poste Group. A period at Domaine Yves Cuilleron that sparked his curiosity for old grape varieties, and vinifications at Domaine Millaire that introduced him to biodynamics.

He enjoys: finely chiseled white wines; complex reds; Belgian beers; long shared meals; taking care of his twins; reading manga; and keeping a perfectly organized cellar.
